Aran Braid Mini Tote

a PurpleSage Design
from South Mountain ~ Naturally

Updated June 5, 2009: some of the symbols had been stripped by the html editor — I think they are all fixed now in the pattern, but to be sure you get the full pattern, download the pdf pattern from the PurpleSage Designs website.

This little tote is an excellent way to transport crochet hooks, cell phone, sunglasses, Ipod, MP3 players, and all manner of small necessities.

Finished Size: 3 ¼” x 6” [8.5 x 15 cm]

Materials: approx. 2 oz [50g] of knitting worsted weight yarn

Note: any weight of yarn will do, but the tote will be smaller or larger depending on your choice; choose a smooth surface yarn for best results, a “fuzzy” yarn will obscure the texture of the Aran Braid pattern on the front; if you have lots of little scraps, multiple colours would also work well

Gauge: 24 sts and 34 rows = 4” [10 cm]

Needles / hooks: 3 mm (Can/UK 11, US3), crochet hook 3.5 mm (Can/UK 9, US 4/E)

The yo in Row 5 will be the buttonhole. Make sure that you choose a button that will fit the size of the buttonhole.
