Ravelry Promotional Sale

cable moebius scarf

Double Lyre Moebius

Ravelry now allows promotions

and I thought the publishing of the Double

cabled hat with Icord beginning - Juliet cap style

Double Lyre Hat

Lyre Hat (which matches the Double Lyre Moebius) would be the perfect chance to try this out.

That cute little hat is reversible, btw!

So, until the end of Dec. 2010, you can purchase both patterns for only $7.50USD — that’s only $3.75 each! Past purchases are eligible for this promotion, so if you’ve purchased the  Moebius already, you’ll still get the discount when you purchase the hat now.

For more information (or to buy),  just click on either picture — they’ll take you to the Ravelry.com pattern page which tells all ;)

Enjoy!

Jenna Hurry’s Handkerchief Tee published in Interweave Knits Spring 2010

Another milestone for this designer.  Jenna’s newest design — a lace tee with a handkerchief hem — has just been published in the Spring 2010 edition of Interweave Knits — Congratulations, Jenna!

See the pics

Jenna’s Ravelympics and Knitting Olympics creation is another Wow! — a tropical blue mohair sweater with lace detail and a collar large enough to transform into a head cover –  you can read all about her design on her Knits & Wovens blog.

Moebius Knitting Adventure

Moebius knitting is a wondrously fascinating endeavour – you knit around and around but complete a beautiful loop scarf with a half twist in the construction. This half-twist provides the opportunity for some rather elegant fashion opportunities — how many ways can you wear this scarf / shawl/ cowl/ double-wrap neck warmer…!

My adventure started with Cat Bodhi’s “A Treasury of Magical Knitting” and then I found her YouTube video of this magical cast-on. One 48″ [122cm] circular needle later and I was on my way!

As I was creating the Woodland Grace Moebius Scarf (to be published by South Mountain ~ Naturally at the beginning of March 2010), I chronicled my cast-on steps. They are included in the pattern but I’ve also put a pdf version Technique Sheet on the PurpleSage website.

Briar Hill cowls blockingJust to show you I have been busy ;)

Here’s a picture of the newest South Mountain ~ Naturally design that’s “in the works”: a set of cowls — all the same pattern but using different yarns to create the various sizes.

They are happily blocking :)

Patons Classic Wool (colour: Grey Mix)

Briggs & Little Heritage (colour: Dark Green)

The pattern will hopefully be published with 2 weeks.

EarthSea Cowl

Here it is — the newest PurpleSage pattern.

It can be worn with the Latvian Twist edge or the rolled edge around the face — or just be a lovely round scarf!
The yarn is Fleece Artist Somoko, a merino, kid, nylon and silk blend — very lovely to work with.

The cast-on edge is a Latvian Twist — a free tutorial will follow in the next post so you too can create the lovely scalloped edge on your work.

The EarthSea Cowl knitting pattern is available through Ravelry.com right now

and at Patternfish.com
