Here’s another little place that’s tucked into Halifax’s Barrington Place Shops:
    http://kreativeknits.blogspot.com/

  2. Hi Heather – I’m so glad you’re finding the information here handy.

Thanks so much for that link. I had found references to kreativeknits but with inactive links, so this is great!

  3. Hi– It has come to my attention that my name is erroneously listed with Hillsdale Mohair. It should be Judy Lincoln proprietor knitter weaver spinner dyer.
    Please correct
    Thanks

  4. Angora Hill Farm (Ben & Sylvie Verville)
    134 East Torbrook Rd
    RR#6 Kingston NS B0P 1R0

  5. Thanks, Virginia for the information on Angora Hill Farm — I’ll add it to the list!

  6. In Sydney, There’s Moraff’s, on Victoria Road in Whitney Pier,

In Hali there’s also “The Loop” on Barrington St about 2 blocks before Spring Garden Road and LK Yarns on Young St.

Not sure of the exact addresses, and they all have websites I’ve been to before, but not lately

  7. Thanks so much, knitsandfurs – I’ll add them to the list!

  8. The correct website for Kreative Knit & Designs is http://www.kreativeknits.com.

    Thanks.

    Liona

  9. Thanks so much, Liona. I’ve updated the link.

  10. Just got confirmation — Tangled Skeins in Dartmouth is closing at 5:00 on Friday June 4, 2010. :(

  11. Thanks for that update, Jennifer. Sad, indeed. Maybe we can hope for a new business opportunity for someone?

  12. Kreative Knits in Historic Properties has been gone for a while. I’m not sure when they closed (I never really went in often because they didn’t have much in the way of stock), but I noticed a couple months ago that the shop was papered up with “for rent” signs.

Also, there’s a new shop out in Lower Sackville called From Ewe to You (http://www.fromewe2you.com/Page%207). The shop owner is super sweet and she’s already got a really good selection for only having been open since the beginning of summer. Quite affordable as well. :)

  13. Thanks so much for the update Sarah. I’ll update the blog.

  14. Hi, What a great idea! Please correct our farm name from Rocara Alpacas to Rocaro Alpacas.

    Many thanks, Caroline

  15. Hello,

Jen Appleby of The Woollen Earth here. Just found your listing of NS yarn shops. Thanks for including mine here. I moved to Summerville, Hants County (across the river from Hantsport), for a year or so, now. I do have an actual shop, by appt only, as well as an online venue. Call (250) 633-2727 for an appt. 75 Block Wharf Rd, Summerville. All sorts of fibers, patterns, and notions. Classes also offered this fall.

    Thanks again for the listing!

    Jen.

  16. Hello Purple Sage,
I’ve just moved to Cape Breton from Wales and am an aspiring spinner! This webpage has been very useful and I’m hoping to visit the Mabou and Judique places this weekend. I’ve visited Baadeck Yarns already, great place.

I’d love to make my own yarn from my own goats, but cant find many places selling goats! If you, or anyone else, has any ideas on this I’d be grateful

I have a leaflet for The Spinners Loft, which may interest you. brilliant website – http://www.thespinnersloft.ca

    Thanks
    Laura

  17. Hi Laura!
So glad you found the LYS info useful :) Spinning is something I’ve always thought I’d like to try but hasn’t happened yet. Sorry I can’t help you out with the goats — good luck in your search. Maybe someone will have a suggestion for you. Just had a thought — have you tried Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com? It’s an online knitting / crochet / spinning / weaving community — free to join (there are almost 1,000,000 members). There are loads of spinners and lots of folks from Atlantic Canada there; I’m sure someone there might have suggestions for you.

Thanks for the info on The Spinners Loft — imagine spinning dog hair! It looks like a marvelous place.

    Cheers, Luise ~ aka PurpleSage

  20. Hey everyone, I am pleased to see this information posted. I am opening George St Yarn Shoppe in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, located at 56 George St, which is downtown New Glasgow. My opening date is July 18th and will carry a wide selection of yarns. I will also be offering classes in the Fall. I don’t have a website yet, but will be posting on Ravelry and facebook.

  21. Hi Darlene — thanks so much for letting us know :) I’ll add your shop to the list. Best of luck!! I’m sure lots of folks in the New Glasgow area will on your doorstep on opening day!

  22. I gave the incorrect address for George St Yarn Shoppe, it is 159 George St , not 56. Sorry, and thank you for your kind words….Darlene

  23. No problem – all fixed :)

  24. I’ll be coming that way in September, and I look forward to seeing some of these shops and meeting fiber folk from Nova Scotia. Thanks for posting this. I reached here because I downloaded Night on the Town scarf pattern some time ago. Looked through my patterns today, and found your website.

  25. Hi Margaret,
I’m so glad that this page will help provide some fun on your trip — so much beautiful fibre and so many wonderful folk! Hope your trip will be super!
    Luise
