Two Colour Cast On and Bind Off

Thought you might like to see close up pictures of the two special techniques used in the Winds of Change: Southwind Shawl: the 2 Colour Long Tail Cast On and the 2 Colour I-Cord Bind Off.

The 2 Colour Long Tail Cast On makes it so easy to cast on a large number of stitches – no fear of running out of yarn just those couple of stitches short of the required number!!

EarthSea Cowl joins Impeccable Knits label

EarthSea Cowl

EarthSea Cowl

The EarthSea Cowl was first published in 2008.

It’s a lovely lace and cable design that begins with a Twisted Latvian cast on and ends in a rolled hem creating two entirely different looks. It is worked in two colors, one color for each end with the two colors being interlaced in the center.

All of our migrated patterns have charts created using Stitch Mastery as well as our new template design. Every pattern page now also shows the pattern cover page and the pattern details page, like this:

Earth Sea Cowl v1.1 cover pg Earth Sea Cowl v1.1 details pg

This way knitters can see all of the requirements including all of the stitch abbreviations and special pattern notes.

See the EarthSea Cowl pattern page here on Ravelry.

Ever the Wind Shawl

Available March 27, 2013

Only one day to go! This is a brand new collection of six knitting patterns  ~“In Tune”  ~ that will be published March 27, 2013 by Knit Picks.

So, from the pattern collection intro:

“From the ethereal voice of Enya to the heart-stirring Irish airs of Tommy Makem to the social harmonies of Ultimate Spinach, music stirs our emotions and influences our being.”

And here I offer a tip of the hat to Tommy Makem for his beautiful tune ‘Ever the Winds‘.

Cables and lace harmonize to create this lovely arc-shaped shawl knit in a luxurious merino / silk blend.

This shawl is worked bottom-up in Knit Picks Gloss Fingering - a yarn with a truly lovely hand – one of my favourites!

On March 27th, check the Impeccable Knits Ravelry Storefront for the pattern listings and links and check out the Knit Picks books selection.

Only two days to go!

This pattern was inspired by Aniron, a moving Enya tune; Aniron translates “I Desire”.

This garment is knit top-down and seamless! a patterned yoke, an offset cable panel and a small thematic, centred, cable motif on the back are part of this mid-hip length tunic. The sample is worked in Knit Picks Swish DK a superwash – a yarn with a lovely hand.

Sneak Peek #4: Sauriel

Available March 27, 2013

Getting more exciting as the day grows closer!

I discovered the soothing melodies of Debbie Danbrook and her shakuhachi many years ago. The dulcet tones of her music are wondrously calming to the spirit.

This garment is knit top-down and seamless! and is worked in a fabulous rib pattern that gives shape without having to work short rows or waist shaping. The sample is worked in Knit Picks Stroll Tonal which currently has 16 colourways to choose from – that’s an entire summer wardrobe and then some! The single button at the neckline is the perfect opportunity to use those one-of-a-kind treasures.

On March 27th, check the Impeccable Knits Ravelry Storefront for the pattern listings and links and check out the Knit Picks books selection.
